New video games topped the charts in record-breaking October • The Pop Insider
Last month, the U.S. video game industry set a new record in October, with gamers spending $ 4.4 billion on hardware, game content and accessories.
According to The NPD group, spent $ 46.7 billion in the first 10 months of 2021, a 12% gain from the same period last year.
While the search for a new console like Microsoft’s Xbox Series X | S continues to be a boss-level challenge, their release has fueled an 82% increase in hardware sales for a 53% gain since beginning of the year. But, according to NPD, it’s still the Nintendo Switch that leads the pack in terms of platforms with the new OLED model helping the handheld console keep its momentum going. In terms of total dollar sales, the Sony Playstation 5 leads the pack while the Nintendo Switch leads the total number of units.
As for the games themselves, the new titles topped the charts in October with seven of the top 10 consoles coming before Halloween.

According to Sensor Tower, the best mobile games by revenue last month were Candy Crush Saga, Garena Free Fire, Roblox, Coin Master, PokÃ©mon GO, Call of Duty: Mobile, Homescapes, Lords Mobile, Clash Royale, and Genshin Impact.
