Are you one of a lot a lot people who nose dive watching soft-spoken YouTubers tapping and whispering into their mics for hours on end? Do I have bad vibes for you.

If you don’t like ASMR or haven’t heard of it, here’s a quick rundown: ASMR is short for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, and it’s the name of the sensation some people get from Hour-long videos of someone whispering into a camera over them. Some people describe the feeling as “tingling” in the back of the neck, while others say it’s relaxing enough to fall asleep for. Personally, this journalist gets nothing out of it, and has never – if I fall asleep for, say, a 10 minute video of a guy who carves wood, it will be out of boredom, not relaxation.

With that in mind, I decided to dive down the rabbit hole of ASMRtists (no joke, that’s what they’re called) to see if I could find any videos in this genre that make me feel … Something. If I didn’t experience the elusive tingling sensations that so many others rave about, maybe I could find ASMR unearthing feelings of visceral disgust or discomfort. Literally anything.

It didn’t take me long. I found an alcove of weird videos that made my spine itch. Here’s a list of 11 personal favorites, along with ‘triggers’ – the word the ASMR community uses to describe the different sounds used to elicit different sensations in viewers.
